- Green Bay Packers could strengthen defensive front with intriguing trade option
Though the Green Bay Packers offense has received most of the attention this season, the defense has also shown some concerning signs. Those issues were especially clear in Week 3, when Atlanta Falcons running back Bijan Robinson found plenty of room and helped lead his team to a 35-14 victory over Green Bay.
After strengthening their offensive line, the Green Bay could turn their attention to the defensive front and explore a trade for Tennessee Titans defensive lineman Solomon Thomas. Bleacher Report's Kristopher Knox floated the idea, pointing out that Thomas is set to become a free agent this offseason. With Tennessee off to a 0-3 start, Knox believes the Titans could benefit from trading him now rather than losing him without compensation later.
"Thomas is set to be a free agent in 2027, and if he isn't going to see the field often in Tennessee, the Titans should look to cash him in," wrote the NFL insider.
"He has strong rotational value, as evidenced by the 27 tackles and three tackles for loss he recorded last season."

The Green Bay Packers offensive line is shown during the first quarter of their game against the Washington Commanders Thursday, September 11, 2025 at Lambeau Field in Green Bay, Wisconsin. Shown are offensive tackle Anthony Belton (71), guard Sean Rhyan (75), guard Elgton Jenkins (74), offensive tackle Jordan Morgan (77) and offensive tackle Rasheed Walker (63).
Despite entering the season at 1-2, the Green Bay Packers still have an opportunity to turn things around and make a push later in the year.
Micah Parsons could also return soon , giving the defense another major addition as the team looks to improve on that side of the ball. Bringing in Solomon Thomas would provide Green Bay with another experienced option along the defensive line as it tries to build a stronger unit for the stretch run.

Thomas entered the NFL as the third overall selection in the 2017 draft, but his career has taken a different path than many expected after such a high pick. He has still carved out a respectable role in the league and developed into a reliable veteran presence.
The 30-year-old has logged 4,254 snaps throughout his NFL career and has provided value in several different roles along the defensive front. He has recorded 18.5 career sacks, but his versatility makes him useful as a rotational piece and against the run. Thomas has taken 1,140 snaps as an outside edge rusher, 1,161 aligned over offensive tackles and another 1,946 snaps working from the interior.
