- Green Bay Packers preserve one of NFL’s most impressive streaks
J. Michael Sturdivant entered the Green Bay Packers ' preseason finale with plenty on the line as he continued his push for a roster spot. After suffering a concussion against Denver , the wide receiver returned to action and made his presence felt on special teams, playing 15 snaps over two exhibition games. His recovery also allowed him to get back into full team work during Green Bay's joint practices with Arizona, giving him another opportunity to prove he belongs on the 53 man roster.
Sturdivant turned a difficult preseason into a breakthrough, doing enough in limited opportunities to secure a place on Matt LaFleur's final receiver unit. His contributions on both offense and special teams ultimately helped him survive the roster cuts while extending a remarkable NFL streak that the Packers have maintained for years.

ESPN's Rob Demovsky singled out Sturdivant's inclusion on the Packers' initial 53 man roster as the latest chapter in one of the franchise's most enduring traditions, with the rookie's selection helping Green Bay preserve the remarkable streak.
"They also kept alive an incredible streak regarding rookie undrafted free agents. With WR J. Michael Sturdivant making the initial 53, this will be the 22nd straight season in which the Packers kept at least one UDFA on the Week 1 roster, that is as long as Sturdivant makes it to opening day," the NFL insider wrote.

Green Bay's remarkable 22 year run reflects a long standing organizational philosophy that values player development and evaluation over reputation. Across changes in coaches, executives, and front office leadership, the Packers have continued to find contributors regardless of where they came from, whether that means uncovering overlooked prospects or turning unheralded players into valuable special teams pieces.
