- Green Bay Packers receive encouraging Micah Parsons update ahead of Patriots matchup
The Green Bay Packers found their footing again in Week 8, earning a 27-19 win over the Carolina Panthers. Their defense led the way, and the unit could receive another boost following the team's latest injury update.
Micah Parsons could soon take another step toward returning to the field. ESPN's Adam Schefter reported that Packers head coach Matt LaFleur said Monday the team is preparing for the star pass rusher to resume practicing this week. Parsons has not played since Green Bay's December 14, 2025, matchup with Denver, when he suffered a torn ACL. He has been focused on recovering from the injury ever since.

Having Parsons back for Sunday's matchup with the Patriots would give Green Bay a major lift. Still, his expected return to practice does not necessarily mean he will be cleared for game action right away. Reports have pointed to the Packers' Thanksgiving Eve meeting with the Rams as a more realistic target for his return.

The timing would work in Green Bay's favor, as the Packers have their bye week immediately before that matchup. A return to practice this week would give Parsons several weeks to build up before potentially being activated for Week 12. Although he would miss a significant portion of the season, he could still appear in seven regular season games. Even with that limited window, Parsons could provide a major boost as Green Bay pushes for a playoff spot.

Green Bay enters the stretch run with a 5-3 record and remains in contention for the NFC North title, despite sitting fourth in the division. The Packers' Week 10 clash with the Minnesota Vikings could prove crucial as they look to strengthen their position in the NFC playoff race.

The Packers will be looking to secure an important win this weekend, regardless of whether Parsons is available.
Parsons and the Packers visit the Patriots on November 8, with kickoff set for 4:25 p.m. ET at Gillette Stadium.
