If the Guardians are to win, they'll have to find a way to do it in walk-off fashion for the third consecutive night.
And about 10 seconds after it was typed that the Guardians bullpen had looked good, White Sox infielder Colson Montomgery absolutely demolished aTim Herrinoffering to give the White Sox a 2-1 lead.
Guardians, White Sox score
Once again, the Guardians bullpen has looked good, and Cleveland and Chicago will enter the top of the eighth inning still tied 1-1.
The Guardians bullpen tossed 5 1/3 scoreless innings in the July 3 walk-off win. Tonight, entering the eighth inning,Shawn ArmstrongandHunter Gaddiseach tossed scoreless innings. Tim Herrin will take the top of the eighth.

Parker Messick's day is done as Guardians-White Sox tied
Parker Messick is an All-Star, and his day is now done, as the Guardians are turning to the bullpen to start the sixth inning.
Messick's final line: five innings, one earned run allowed on five hits and three walks and three strikeouts on 100 pitches. Shawn Armstrong is entering the game.
Austin Hedges is already in the midst of the best offensive season of his career, and he just tied this game up with a solo home run to center field, making it 1-1 in the bottom of the fifth inning.
Steven Kwanfollowed with a triple down the left field line that was bobbled by outfielder Junior Perez, which is curious considering the White Sox complained and even suggested possible strategy in the Guardians grounds crew pulling the tarp and impacting the field July 3. It was a little ridiculous considering no umpire would ever simply let the grounds crew onto the field without directing them first, but the White Sox suggested that their error caused their bad play in the field after the rain delay. It seems to have followed them on this dry night.

Kwan was then caught in a rundown off of a ground ball to the right side, so his triple was quickly followed by a baserunning mistake that will keep it tied 1-1.
White Sox lead Guardians; score update
The Guardians have doubled Chicago's hit total (four to two), but the White Sox have maintained a 1-0 lead heading to the top of the fourth inning.
Guardians starter Parker Messick, who was just announced as an All-Star on Fox's live Selection Show, has struck out three while allowing two hits and two walks thus far.
