- Hall of Famer delivers strong verdict on Milwaukee Brewers after historic World Series win
The Milwaukee Brewers finally captured the first World Series championship in franchise history after decades of waiting. Since their previous appearance in 1982, the team has experienced plenty of progress and setbacks before finally reaching the top of baseball.
Hall of Fame catcher Johnny Bench is among those recognizing Milwaukee's championship achievement, according to MLB Network Radio on SiriusXM. His assessment was brief but meaningful, the Brewers were the best team in baseball.
"Who was the best team in baseball? There's not a question, Milwaukee had it," the Hall of Famer remarked.
Milwaukee backed up its long-awaited championship run with an outstanding regular season, posting a 103-59 record to claim the NL Central crown. The Brewers then carried that momentum into the postseason , eliminating the San Diego Padres in four games during the NLDS.

The Brewers followed that series by pulling off another remarkable feat, sweeping the Los Angeles Dodgers in the NLCS. The Dodgers entered the matchup as the two-time defending World Series champion, backed by MLB's highest payroll and a roster loaded with star power.
Pat Murphy and the Brewers then carried their postseason surge into the Fall Classic, taking the first three games against the Tampa Bay Rays. Although Milwaukee dropped Game 4, the team maintained its edge and went on to seal the championship.

Bench earned his place in the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1989 after a decorated career with the Cincinnati Reds. He was part of the team's championship runs in 1975 and 1976, when the star-studded squad became known as the "Big Red Machine." Widely regarded as one of the finest catchers of his generation, Bench also became a familiar face to younger fans as the host of the children's program "The Baseball Bunch."
