These days Harry Kane frequently finds himself playing second fiddle to Jude Bellingham in terms of adoration from England supporters. The Wembley faithful erupted when Bellingham's name was announced before kickoff - yet Kane received an even more thunderous ovation.
They had gathered to honor an England legend who cherishes wearing the jersey, representing the nation, and takes immense pride in the captaincy. Remarkably, it had been 4,211 days - March 27, 2015 - since Kane's debut against Lithuania.
Naturally, he found the net that evening - merely 79 seconds after entering as a substitute - and has continued doing so consistently. This occasion was destined to be Kane's moment because, understandably, he centered it around himself. That's been the narrative of his England journey, as per The Mirror .

Kane is 33 but remains as driven as ever and simply leads through example. When the squad requires a boost, he delivers it. When they need a goal, he's invariably there.
Captain Marvel Kane stands as England's all-time leading scorer, and he was intent on savoring his special evening, which also essentially secured qualification for the Nations League knockout rounds next March. The top two advance, and the Groups are determined by points, then head-to-head records, and it would be difficult to envision Croatia surpassing England's 7-0 scoreline in Rijeka last weekend.
Replicating that performance was always going to be a tall order, and the opening period felt somewhat anticlimactic. Four alterations were made to the starting eleven - Trent Alexander-Arnold, Myles Lewis-Skelly, Morgan Rogers, and Eberechi Eze - and the team appeared somewhat disconnected.
Alexander-Arnold threatened with a set piece while Rogers opted to set up Kane when a shot seemed the better option. That's when Kane took control and transformed the match.
The opener arrived in the 27th minute when Kane delivered a cross from the right flank and, bewilderingly, Czech captain Vladimir Coufal slid in and smashed the ball into his own net.

What a peculiar goal. It resembled a striker's close-range finish rather than a defender's attempted clearance. Surely Kane warranted an assist.
But perhaps we should have anticipated it. Kane celebrated his milestone evening with a goal. Naturally. Rogers - who increasingly influenced proceedings - excelled down the right channel, whipped in a low delivery, and there was Kane charging forward to guide it home.
That brought him to 90 goals. His 91st followed shortly after. Kane grazed the woodwork with an attempt following excellent work from Lewis-Skelly. The Czech Republic's backline had been put on notice. Lewis Hall floated in a deep corner, and there was Kane positioned at the far post to nod home.
What a way to cap off his evening. Two goals, a contribution to the other, and Kane's record-equalling night will be remembered as yet another milestone accompanied by an exceptional display. Little wonder he departed to a standing ovation when finally withdrawn, his work emphatically completed.
