The LSU Tigers' women's basketball team got off to a hot start to their 2026-27 season with a 129-35 beatdown against the Southeastern Louisiana Lions, with sophomore guard ZaKiyah Johnson putting up a game-high 33 points and 13 rebounds.
The Tigers will play their first SEC opponent on New Year's Eve as they travel to Neville Arena in Alabama. Still, fans criticized the team's non-conference schedule after it faced a much less talented team.

Kim Mulkey Provides Noa Morro Injury Update After First Win
While most of the Tigers were ready for the season opener, Spanish forward Noa Morro was a notable absence from the team's rotation.
When asked about her progress during the postgame press conference, LSU's head coach Kim Mulkey said
:
She's been practicing with us and, um, not as much running the floor as I would like yet. I have to listen to the trainer. And so I specifically asked the trainer, "What are we looking at?" And she said, "Maybe a week." And I said, "Then I can play her in a game." And she just kind of nodded her head like, 'Possibly.' Her surgery was like September 2nd, so she's a good eight, going into nine, 10 weeks."
The Tigers will return to action against Texas Southern on Thursday, Nov. 5.
