- Hawaii men’s basketball picked to finish 6th in Mountain West
The University of Hawaii men's basketball team has been predicted to finish sixth in the 10-team Mountain West this coming season, according to polling of select media.
The Rainbow Warriors received 99 out of a potential 190 points in the poll, which was announced at Wednesday's Mountain West Media Day in Las Vegas.
It was not a surprising outcome for the 'Bows. They have 13 newcomers on their 15-player rosters. Of the two returning players, point guard Tanner Cuff missed the 2025-26 season after suffering an ACL injury. Tuesday marked the 11th month since his surgery. Cuff, who is fully healed, and guard Isaiah Kerr are representing the 'Bows at the meet-the-media event.
This is the 'Bows' first year as a Mountain West member after 14 seasons in the Big West.
New Mexico was picked to finish first. The Lobos received nine-place votes and 179 points. Grand Canyon, which received 10 No. 1 votes, was selected second by just one point.
The 'Bows did not place any player on the preseason all-conference team.
