Angel Reese sent a strong message to Atlanta Dream teammate DeWanna Bonner just days after the team fell short of a WNBA championship.
The Dream pushed the Golden State Valkyries to a winner-take-all Game 7, but the Valkyries clinched their first championship with a 68-63 home win on Saturday night.
On Tuesday, Bonner took to Instagram to send a parting message for the 2026 season.
"17 years in this league, and to still experience this kind of love, energy, and excitement is something I'll never take for granted. This move to Atlanta was life changing, far beyond winning or losing a championship! The happiness and joy that came with this city/team was unmatched! β€οΈ," part of Bonner's post read.
The 6-foot-4 forward-guard thanked her teammates for "welcoming me with open arms." Bonner joined the Dream late in the season following a buyout with the Phoenix Mercury.
She ended by addressing her WNBA future. "And as for what's next? Just remember, if you didn't hear it from me, you haven't heard it yet. π," wrote the 39-year-old.
Reese was among the first teammates to react to Bonner's post. The Defensive Player of the Year responded with a heartfelt message.
"A honor to play with you no matter what next year looks likeππ½π€" Reese wrote.
A lot of uncertainty currently surrounds Bonner's future. She is set to become an unrestricted free agent in the offseason as her Dream contract ends. The 17-year veteran has hinted at retirement before.
Meanwhile, Reese remains under contract with the Dream through 2027 under her rookie deal. She is eligible to sign a maximum salary contract extension under the Exceptional Performance on Initial Contract (EPIC) provision .
