Houston Texans right tackle Braden Smith suffered a partially torn plantar fascia during the final week of training camp and joint practices with the Carolina Panthers. As a result, the Texans placed Smith on injured reserve during roster cuts, with the expectation that he would miss four to six weeks. He returned to practice last week and was limited on Wednesday before upgrading to full participation Thursday and Friday, but he did not play in Week 5.

According to James Palmer of NFL on Prime, the Texans have activated Braden Smith from injured reserve. It remains unclear whether he will start at right tackle over Trent Brown in Week 6 against the Jaguars in London. Brown got all the first-team reps during OTAs and mandatory minicamp, with Smith sidelined for the offseason workout program to recover from neck surgery. They split first-team reps during training camp before the former Colt suffered a foot injury, so Brown started the first five games.
