- Indiana Fever Sign WNBA Champion 4 Days Before Training Camp
The Indiana Fever are making another late move as training camp approaches, adding veteran depth just days before things officially begin. With a roster already drawing attention because of Caitlin Clark and a young core still developing, this signing is more about balance than headlines.
Indiana announced it has signed Shatori Walker-Kimbrough , a guard with nearly a decade of WNBA experience and a championship on her resume. The timing matters. With camp around the corner, this is about competition, insurance, and giving the coaching staff another proven option as roles begin to take shape.

It may not be the biggest move of the offseason, but it is the kind of addition that teams rely on once the season starts to unfold.
Fever Add Proven Championship Experience
Walker-Kimbrough brings immediate credibility to the roster. She was part of the Washington Mystics championship team in 2019, sharing that run with players like Myisha Hines-Allen .
That experience is valuable for a team like Indiana that is still finding its identity. Even in a limited role, having someone who has been through a title run can help set expectations inside the locker room.

Recent Production Tells the Story
Most recently with the Atlanta Dream in 2025, Walker-Kimbrough averaged 1.7 points in 8.6 minutes per game. The numbers are modest, but they reflect her role more than her ability.
Across her career, she has been a reliable rotational guard who can space the floor and defend multiple positions. For Indiana, that kind of flexibility is useful as the roster continues to evolve.
Why This Move Matters Right Now
The timing of the signing stands out. With training camp just days away, this is less about long-term planning and more about immediate competition.

Indiana is still shaping its backcourt rotation, and adding a veteran gives the coaching staff another option to evaluate. It also raises the level of competition in camp, which is often where roster spots are truly decided.
What It Means for Indiana Moving Forward
This move does not change the direction of the team, but it does add stability. The Fever are building around youth, but moves like this show they understand the need for experience alongside it.

Walker-Kimbrough gives them a steady presence, someone who understands the league and can step into different roles if needed. As camp opens, that kind of addition could quietly become more important than it looks on paper.
