On October 11, 2025, Indiana football took a trip to the Autzen Zoo, facing a third-ranked Oregon. Indiana came away with a 30-20 win, moving their record to 6-0 on the season. The victory broke an Indiana 46-game losing streak against AP Top-5 teams .
A new book about the 2025 Hoosiers season is coming out at the end of the month. An excerpt from the book, "Unthinkable to Unstoppable: How Curt Cignetti and the Indiana Hoosiers Stunned College Football," details the victory over Oregon, starting with an epic moment leading up to the game, per Zach Osterman of USA Today.
"With about 20 minutes until kickoff, IU coaches made final adjustments while players grabbed Gatorade. The Hoosiers' typical routine involved Cignetti delivering a brief speech before leading his team in the Lord's Prayer. In the charged atmosphere of what amounted to a small shack—with Autzen Stadium beginning to shake, and a national television audience waiting — Cignetti this time forgot himself," the excerpt read.

Cignetti was so excited for the game that he forgot to lead the team in the normal prayer, which caught the attention of strength coach Derek Owings.
"I better say it, or he's gonna rip my ass if I'm walking down this tunnel," Owens thought to himself before asking, "Coach, are we going to pray?"
Cignetti responded in typical Cignetti fashion.
"Ah, f**k it," he said. "Pray for Oregon."
It was a tight game throughout for the Ducks and the Hoosiers. Brendan Franke hit a field goal for Indiana at the end of the first half, making it 13-10 in favor of the Hoosiers. Indiana took a seven-point lead late in the third quarter on a Roman Hemby touchdown run. Brandon Finney Jr. would intercept Fernando Mendoza in the fourth quarter, bringing it back for a game-tying touchdown. Mendoza was undeterred, later throwing a touchdown to Elijah Sarrat, which proved to be the game-winner.
The Hoosiers would go on to the next ten straight, including a 56-22 win for Indiana against Oregon in the CFP Semifinal at the Peach Bowl .
