The Indianapolis Colts have released former FSU defensive lineman Derrick Nnadi , announcing the news on Sunday . The veteran was entering his first season with the Colts after spending last season with the Kansas City Chiefs .
Nnadi had an excellent eight-year run with the Chiefs after they drafted him in the third round of the 2018 NFL Draft. They won three Super Bowls during that stretch, with him playing in 130 games with 98 starts. He recorded 249 tackles, 7.0 tackles for loss, 5.0 sacks, and one interception.
He briefly left them after the 2024 season, signing with the New York Jets , but was traded back to Kansas City ahead of the 2025 season. Following last season, he signed a one-year deal with the Colts worth $1,487,500, but failed to make the 53-man roster ahead of the 2026 season.
Nnadi played at FSU from 2014-17 and received All-ACC recognition in each of his final three seasons in Tallahassee. He and JT Thomas are the only former Seminoles to play in four Super Bowls. He played in 48 games during his time at FSU, finishing with 165 tackles, 24.0 tackles for loss, and 11.5 sacks.
Nnadi was not the only Seminole to be waived ahead of the season. The Los Angeles Chargers waived quarterback DJ Uiagalelei on Sunday, the Miami Dolphins waived former linebacker Cam Riley on Sunday, and the Arizona Cardinals waived running back Trey Benson last Monday.
