OGC Nice 's owners, INEOS, have given the green light for the Ligue 1 club to complete a deal to sign Stade Rennais defender Alidu Seidu on a 'joker' transfer, as per a report from L'Équipe .
Rules in France would permit the recruitment of the Ghana international, despite the closure of the transfer window in France on 1st September. Clubs are allowed to recruit a 'joker', should certain conditions be met. One of those conditions is a severe injury within the current squad. Antoine Mendy suffered an ACL injury during a draw against Le Mans earlier this month, which would allow Le Gym to dip into the market.
Seidu is currently on the fringes at Rennes , and he has now been made a priority target by Nice. Talks over a loan move with a buy option are currently underway between the two clubs. The deal is now progressing after INEOS gave the green light to make the investment.
