Pittsburgh Steelers general manager Omar Khan had a blunt message for the coaching staff after Mike Tomlin's departure.
The Pittsburgh Steelers will have a new head coach after Mike Tomlin announced he was stepping down last week. However, many, including the rest of the team's coaching staff, questioned if everyone was following Tomlin out the door.
Steelers general manager Omar Khan reportedly cleared up any confusion shortly after the news broke on Tomlin.
"GM Omar Khan, Art Rooney II, they took those coaches in a meeting," NFL insider Kimberly Martin said on SportsCenter. "Omar Khan said, 'Listen, your emails are done after this week. By next week, clean out your offices. The new head coach may keep you. He may not.'"
There had been reports that that was true, but Pittsburgh has clearly stuck to that decision in recent days as it watched special teams coaching legend Danny Smith leave to join the Tampa Bay Buccaneers .

The Steelers could have decided to keep Smith, but they are still in the midst of their head coaching search . It remains to be seen how much longer Pittsburgh plans to take to find its next head coach, but it could lose out on retaining any of its top assistant coaches if it drags out much longer.
Martin revealed there was still a shock factor even after Khan delivered the news.
"A lot of coaches kind of looked around like, 'Okay, do we have a job? Are we still here?' There's a lot of confusion," Martin added.
At this point, it's every man for himself and the Steelers coaching staff of the past isn't going to wait and see what happens with the team's new regime, whenever they eventually take over.
