- Iowa football trio dealing with injuries during Northern Illinois game

There's a trio of injuries to monitor for Iowa from its season opener against Northern Illinois.
Fourth-year running back LJ Phillips Jr. was injured and exited in the first half. Big Ten Network sideline reporter Caroline Hendershot revealed on the TV broadcast that Iowa is also monitoring injuries to starting center Cael Winter and starting right guard Kade Pieper.
"Running back LJ Phillips is questionable to return to the game from his injury in the first half as well as offensive lineman Kade Pieper. He's also questionable to return. And earlier, right before the play started, center Cael Winter went back up the tunnel. We have not seen him come back," Hendershot told TV viewers.
Iowa head football coach Kirk Ferentz should have a postgame update on the trio.
Phillips began the season listed as Iowa's backup running back to Kamari Moulton. Winter won the starting job at center as a walk-on and Pieper is considered one of the Big Ten and nation's best offensive linemen.
