Iowa State had Dowling Catholic four-star offensive lineman Carter Barrett back on campus on Saturday. If there was going to be a game to have a highly-ranked, in-state priority at, that was probably the one.
Barrett, a 6-foot-6, 310-pound blue-chip, saw the Cyclones pull out a last-second victory over Oklahoma State in front of a loud, excited Jack Trice Stadium.
"It was an amazing time," Barrett said. "Growing up a fan, it was awesome to be a part of that atmosphere and game, and it meant a lot. Overall was a great experience and really enjoyed my time and will definitely remember that for a long time."
Barrett has been recruited by major schools since early in his high school career. His Cyclone recruitment began with the previous staff, but he has since built a relationship with Jimmy Rogers and this staff.
"I have been able to gotten to know the new staff over time," he said. "This was my second time visiting them since they have been there, and I would say my relationship with them is in a good place and growing, as I'm still learning more about them."
Iowa, Indiana, Penn State and Oklahoma are some of the other schools contending for Barrett.
