Iowa State cornerback Jaheim Singletary collided with teammate Willie Breland III. The two ran into each other while Bowling Green's Winn Sharp headed towards the end zone.
Singletary was placed on a backboard and transported off the field. He was treated at Mary Greeley Medical Center before being released shortly later. The senior from Jacksonville, Florida, had movement in all his extremities, the school said in a press release.
Iowa State's Jaheim Singletary Avoids Serious Injury In Scary Incident
Breland was not injured during the incident involving Singletary.
There was a 15-minute stoppage in the action. Athletic trainers and other local medical officials helped Singletary before he was taken off the field. Both Iowa State head coach Jimmy Rogers and Bowling Green's Eddie George came together.
Players from both teams knelt on the sidelines to show support for Singletary.
"Really scary situation," Rogers said during his post-game press conference (thanks to ESPN for the quotes). "You kind of see the heartbeat of this team. They rallied around him and prayed for him.
"Scary to see that happen to anybody. When you build connections as close as this team has become, to a great player, it's hard to watch. Our thoughts are really with Jaheim."
