- Isaiah Evans reveals which former Blue Devil inspired him to choose Duke
Former Duke guard Isaiah Evans is preparing for his first NBA season, having been selected No. 33 overall by the Minnesota Timberwolves in the 2026 NBA Draft. But, prior to his NBA regular season debut this fall, the two-year Blue Devil reflected on his decision to choose Duke over other universities.
On social media, Evans was recently asked about which Duke alumni made him want to become a Blue Devil, and his answer may surprise some Duke supporters. Evans responded with a two-year Duke guard in his own right, former ACC Player of the Year Award winner Tre Jones . Jones was an elite defender in college, making two ACC All-Defensive Teams. During his sophomore season, Jones averaged 16.2 points, 6.4 assists, 4.2 rebounds, 1.8 steals and 0.3 blocks.

Currently a six-year veteran in the NBA, Jones just came off of his strongest season, averaging 14.1 points, 5.4 assists, 3.1 rebounds and 1.2 steals for the Chicago Bulls . Jones and Evans will face each other for the first time during the preseason, October 16.
