As the New England Patriots get ready for their upcoming game against the Green Bay Packers this week, the team should be short-handed again.
Multiple key players didn't practice on Thursday for the team, including star wide receiver A.J. Brown. Additionally, tight end Hunter Henry and running back TreVeyon Henderson were among the players who didn't suit up for practice.
This now puts each players status for the game against the Packers in some doubt, which would be brutal to the Patriots chances to win. But New England will have more clarity on each player as the game start draws closer this week.
Brown has been out dealing with an ankle and knee issue, limiting what he's been able to do for this Patriots team. After trading for Brown in the offseason, the veteran's time with the team this season has been extremely underwhelming due to injuries.
The veteran missed the first part of the season after suffering an injury in Week 1, but even when he did return, there were issues with dropped passes. For the year, Brown has caught nine passes for 101 yards and one fumble.
As for Henry, he is dealing with a foot injury, with the Patriots hopeful that he will be able to play on Sunday. Without Brown and other wide receivers in the lineup , Henry has been a reliable presence for quarterback Drake Maye this year.
Overall, Henry has caught 29 passes for 326 yards and two touchdowns, proving his worth to this team. If Henry were to miss the game, it would be a massive blow to the Patriots offensive attack this week.
Henderson is dealing with an illness, and the hope is that he will be able to bounce back from this. The Patriots' run game as a whole has been inconsistnet this season, but Henderson does have game-changing ability.
On the season, the second-year running back has rushed for just 203 yards and one touchdown. Henderson didn't play last week in the Patriots' win over the Miami Dolphins.
New England will hope for the best with all the injuries that the team has seen take place over the last few weeks, but the Packers matchup could be problematic. The Patriots and Packers both will be coming into the game with a record of 5-3, making this an interesting matchup all around.
Kickoff for the game between the Patriots and Packers is scheduled to take place at 1:25 p.m. PT/4:25 p.m. ET.
