Jaguars cornerback
That's one way to avoid the grind of NFL training camp.
Cornerback Dane Jackson , who signed a one-year, $1.215 million contract with the Jaguars on June 4, has apparently decided he doesn't want the contract after all.

Tuesday marked report day for Jacksonville , and the team surprisingly placed Jackson on the Reserve/Retired list .

With the roster spot opened, the Jaguars added cornerback Corey Ballentine to their roster.
Jackson has not yet commented on the situation and the team has not provided clarity on the move, but he was at the team's mandatory veteran minicamp June 11.
The 29-year-old was drafted in the seventh round by the Bills in 2020 and he played six seasons in the league, five of which were with the Bills, including last year's Divisional-Round loss to Denver .
If his career is truly over, Jackson may partially remembered for playing just one snap against the Broncos and getting roasted on a 26-yard Marvin Mims touchdown with 55 seconds remaining in the game.

That score gave the Broncos a three-point lead before Josh Allen rallied to tie the game and force overtime, where the Broncos prevailed, 33-30.
Jackson's career earnings stand at$8.5 million, per Overthecap.

Jackson accrued 178 career tackles and three interceptions in his career, during which he also spent the 2024 season with the Panthers.
It was possible that Jackson was going to play a legitimate role in Jacksonville depending on whether the Jaguars truly chose to develop former No. 2 overall pick Travis Hunter as a defensive player.
Hunter, who is coming off a torn ACL while playing most of his time as a wide receiver last season, is currently listed as their No. 1 corner, according to most projected depth charts.
