Following the first wave of NFL free agency, how much salary cap space do the Jacksonville Jaguars have?
Over the last week, we've seen the Jaguars restructure several contracts, including Jakobi Meyers' deal , to help create needed cap space for the 2026 season.
Overall, it's been a relatively quiet free agency period for the Jaguars, who have made just one outside addition, signing running back Chris Rodriguez. The Jaguars also re-signed Montaric Brown and Dennis Gardeck .
GM James Gladstone recently explained the big reason behind the Jaguars ' lack of free agency moves, which centers around 2027 compensatory draft picks. However, the Jaguars' cap situation probably played a factor as well.
Jagaurs 2026 salary cap update after first wave of NFL free agency
Even with a number of salary cap maneuvers and only a few free agency moves, the Jaguars still do not have an abundance of cap space.
According to Over the Cap , the Jaguars have $7.18 million in cap space at the moment. Only three teams have less cap space than Jacksonville. So if the Jaguars do make any other moves in free agency, they will be relatively low-cost deals.
It's also important to note that there are future salary cap expenses coming down the pipeline, including the need for cap space to sign the incoming draft class and reserve funds for any in-season spending.
Weighing down the Jaguars' cap situation this season is the massive amount of dead cap on the 2026 books, due to the heavy amount of roster turnover last year.
