CHAMPAIGN, Ill. — Jasmine Brown-Hagger has been a consistent presence in Illinois' backcourt over the past two seasons. Now, she has one more go around to lead this team to new heights.
Alongside Maddie Webber, Brown-Hagger is one of just two seniors on the Illini roster, putting the veteran guard in a position to lead a team with high expectations entering the 2026-27 season.
"I may be tired, but what can I do to not show that I'm tired?" Brown-Hagger said Wednesday. "So that everyone has something that they can look forward to and look up to."
"I feel like this year, especially, like, her leadership has been so evident on the team," Berry Wallace said. "She is the one who is going to, like, lead our huddles every day and, like, talk about what our standards are as a team."
Brown-Hagger has become a player the team looks toward for direction.
"I think she just shows up every day and she's ready to work," Wallace said.
Brown-Hagger believes that continuity within the group has allowed the Illini to spend more time developing.
"Actually, our practices have been really efficient, you know, because we're only talking about basketball," Brown-Hagger said.
With one final season in Champaign, the Shorewood native is determined to help the Illini reach the next level.
She has a clear vision of what she is looking forward to most in her senior year.
"Honestly, winning," Brown-Hagger said.
