- Jayden Savoury Continues to Dominate for Michigan State

Three games into the season, it is becoming increasingly clear that Michigan State has found its newest breakout tight end.
His name is Jayden Savoury .
Through three games, Savoury has hauled in 11 receptions for 129 yards. That has him ranked second in the Big Ten in receiving yards among tight ends, trailing only USC's Mark Bowman , who has 160 yards.

Savoury's 129 receiving yards are not only good enough for second in the conference, but also tie him for 19th nationally among tight ends.
His 11 receptions also rank second in the Big Ten behind Bowman's 15, while tying him for 13th nationally among tight ends.
More Than a Security Blanket
Savoury has led the Spartans in receptions in each of the last two games, developing into much more than a security blanket for quarterback Alessio Milivojevic .
He has quickly become one of Michigan State 's most reliable pass catchers, consistently finding ways to get open and make plays when the Spartans need them.

Once Savoury gets the ball in his hands, he becomes a dangerous weapon in space.
He already has two big catches on crossing routes this season that have combined for more than 80 yards. Overall, Savoury is averaging 11.4 yards per reception and 43 receiving yards per game, establishing himself as a constant presence in the passing game after breaking through during the offseason.
A Breakout Season in the Making
Michigan State's tight end room is loaded with talent, including Brennan Parachek, Kai Rios and Carson Gulker. Despite the experience and talent surrounding him, it was the redshirt freshman Savoury who made the biggest impression and earned an increased role in the offense.

That breakout did not seem obvious coming into the season.
During his redshirt freshman season last year, Savoury finished with just one reception, leaving him off many people's radar heading into 2026. But conversations throughout the offseason about the potential for Savoury to break out began to turn into reality once the season started.
Three games later, that breakout looks very real.
A Key Piece on Third Down
The Spartans do not want to win games by throwing for 400 yards every week. Instead, head coach Pat Fitzgerald and offensive coordinator Nick Sheridan want this team to play gritty, physical football that can wear down opposing defenses.

That means Michigan State needs to consistently sustain drives, control the clock and convert when it reaches third down.
Fortunately for the Spartans, they have a quarterback in Milivojevic who has shown the poise to stand in the pocket and deliver the football under pressure.
And now, one of his most important weapons for moving the chains has become Savoury.
As Savoury continues to produce, his role in the Michigan State offense should only continue to grow. Three games into the season, he has gone from an intriguing offseason name to one of the Spartans' most dependable pass catchers.
If he keeps this up, it will not be long before Jayden Savoury becomes a household name around East Lansing.
