Jaylen Watson isn't interested in spending another week watching football from the sidelines.
Less than two weeks after suffering a painful dislocated shoulder against the Broncos , the Rams cornerback is already back on the practice field , wearing a protective harness and eyeing a return against the Bills at SoFi Stadium on "Monday Night Football."
The equipment could be his ticket back onto the field. It could also be the difference between finishing a tackle and finding himself right back on the injury report.
"It's just a harness," Watson said Friday, speaking exclusively to the California Post, when asked about the equipment protecting his injured shoulder. "It has some restrictions, so I won't have full range of motion and risk hurting it again."
Watson suffered the injury during the second quarter of Los Angeles' Week 3 loss in Denver, immediately raising concerns about how long the Rams would be without one of their key offseason acquisitions.

But Watson has been down this road before.
"Yeah, I did it in college, and I ended up not missing a week," Watson revealed. "But I didn't really feel like myself playing that week. So just taking it week to week to see how I feel."
Returning to the field and returning to full strength are two entirely different propositions, especially for an NFL cornerback whose job requires reaching, wrestling and tackling some of the world's most explosive athletes.
"I want to see how Jaylen feels," said Rams coach Sean McVay when asked on Thursday if Watson would play against the Bills on Monday. "We'll get a little shoulder harness out there, [see] how he's going to be able to block destruct."
For most patients with a dislocated shoulder, two weeks is an ambitious turnaround. According to the Cleveland Clinic, recovering from a dislocated shoulder typically takes several months , including immobilization and rehabilitation.

The American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons notes that even less severe shoulder injuries often require four to six weeks for substantial functional improvement.
Watson understands the tradeoff better than most, having already played through a similar injury in college.
"Just rest, recover," Watson said of his latest rehabilitation. "The training staff has been doing a great job helping me. And just each day, trying to get closer and closer to getting back."
After participating in limited practices Thursday and Friday, Watson has put himself in position for a potentially remarkable return.
Asked whether playing against Buffalo was realistic if his recovery continued progressing, Watson didn't hesitate.
"Yeah, if everything's on track, of course," he said. "That's the goal."
The final decision remains with the Rams' medical staff. But Watson has made his intentions clear: He's willing to sacrifice a little mobility for a chance to get back in the fight. And against Josh Allen and the Bills, the Rams could certainly use another cornerback willing to tackle that challenge.
