- Jaylin Sellers Has a Real Opportunity to Earn Minutes With the Bulls
Jaylin Sellers arrived in Chicago without hearing his name called on draft night. Now, he is doing everything he can to make sure his name is called when it is time for the Bulls to decide who deserves minutes.
The 6-foot-5 guard out of Providence went undrafted in the 2026 NBA Draft before signing a two-way contract with the Chicago Bulls on July 3. For an undrafted player, the two-way deal presents both an opportunity and a challenge. Sellers will split time between the Bulls and their G League affiliate, the Windy City Bulls , while trying to prove he belongs on an NBA floor.

But the circumstances around him have created an opening that Sellers appears ready to take advantage of. The recent trade of third-year guard Rob Dillingham has opened up rotational minutes in the Bulls' backcourt. With five preseason games on the horizon, Sellers has a real opportunity to make a strong impression on head coach Tiago Splitter and the Bulls' coaching staff before the regular season begins.
He certainly did not waste his opportunity in Las Vegas. Sellers averaged 15.6 points per game across five Summer League appearances, highlighted by a game-high 24-point performance against the Washington Wizards . His performance was another example of the scoring ability he displayed throughout college.

At Providence, Sellers led the Big East in scoring during conference play, averaging 19.6 points per game. His ability to create his own shot and score at a high level against quality competition was one of the biggest strengths of his game entering the NBA.

A left-handed scorer, Sellers is capable of getting to his spots and finishing in a variety of ways. But heading into training camp, Sellers has also been vocal about wanting to establish himself as a lockdown defender at the NBA level. For a young player trying to earn consistent minutes, being able to defend could be one of the quickest ways for him to stay on the floor.
That mentality also fits what Splitter wants from this Bulls team. Splitter has emphasized effort, physicality and defense as part of the identity he wants to establish in Chicago. A player who competes on both ends, brings energy every night, and is willing to do the little things is the type of player who can find his way into a rotation.
Chicago fans have always appreciated the underdog, the player who was overlooked, bet on himself and went out and earned everything he received. Sellers fits that description. He also has a style of play that could connect with this city: tough defense, relentless effort and the ability to put the ball in the basket.
