The Jeremiyah Love injury update confirms the Arizona Cardinals rookie will miss at least four games following his placement on injured reserve on November 3, 2026. NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported a high ankle sprain with an expected recovery window of four to five weeks. December 6 against the Philadelphia Eagles represents his earliest eligible game, rather than a confirmed return date.
Tyler Allgeier becomes the leading replacement after producing 191 scrimmage yards and two touchdowns against the Dallas Cowboys on November 1. Bam Knight's concussion protocol and James Conner's continued absence leave Evan Hull and practice-squad runner Jerome Ford as additional options. Arizona must replace Love's workload while determining which available backs can support Allgeier over an extended stretch.

Head coach Mike LaFleur distinguished the latest setback from Love's previous ankle problems, describing damage involving a new portion of the ankle. "This is new," LaFleur said in the team's injury update . The coach specified that the latest problem was higher on the right ankle, supporting the description of a separate injury rather than a confirmed aggravation.
Love hurt his right ankle during the preseason before a left ankle issue cost him two regular-season games. Sunday's appearance marked his return from that absence, but another right ankle injury ended his afternoon after nine carries for 23 yards. The earlier ankle injury breakdown covered the initial uncertainty before the diagnosis and injured-reserve decision clarified his status.

The injured reserve move requires Love to miss at least four games, regardless of the reported recovery estimate. The Cardinals' upcoming schedule includes the Seattle Seahawks on November 8 and the Los Angeles Rams on November 15. The remaining mandatory absences cover the Kansas City Chiefs on November 22 and the Washington Commanders on November 29.
Arizona hosts Philadelphia on December 6, providing the first possible game after those four required absences. A Week 14 bye follows before the Cardinals host the New York Jets on December 20. Missing the Eagles matchup would therefore move Love's next potential appearance two calendar weeks later, assuming medical clearance and roster activation.

Allgeier finished the Dallas victory with 147 rushing yards on 11 carries, plus five receptions for 44 yards. A rushing touchdown and a receiving score demonstrated value beyond simply absorbing the carries left available after Love's exit. The overtime win recap shows how heavily Arizona relied on that production during the comeback.
Runs of 63 and 52 yards accounted for 115 rushing yards, or approximately 78 percent of Allgeier's total. The remaining nine carries produced 32 yards, making those explosive gains central to his exceptional afternoon. Removing the biggest plays does not erase their value, but the breakdown explains why 147 yards should not become a weekly expectation.
Allgeier's previous game logs provide a more cautious comparison during Love's earlier two-game absence. Against Los Angeles and the Denver Broncos, the veteran combined for 57 rushing yards on 26 attempts. Across those games, Allgeier averaged approximately 2.2 yards per carry, establishing inconsistent production without explaining the causes of that variation.
The small sample does not establish whether blocking, defensive matchups, or play selection drove the difference. Five catches against the Cowboys provide a reason to retain receiving opportunities when rushing lanes tighten. The Cardinals should evaluate the replacement plan through sustained possessions and useful touches rather than one headline yardage figure.

Arizona's confirmed roster update identifies Hull as an available active-roster option and Ford as a possible practice-squad elevation. Knight remains in concussion protocol, while Conner remains on IR . LaFleur has already ruled out a Conner return for the Seattle game, narrowing the immediate choices.
Hull was inactive against Dallas, but the team's November 3 report says he will be active following Love's placement on injured reserve. The change gives the Cardinals an available runner who did not participate in Sunday's emergency rotation. Ford remains a possible addition, leaving Hull with the clearer immediate path to game-day involvement without a confirmed share of touches.

Love entered the league as the No. 3 overall selection, making his development a significant investment for Arizona. NFL Network's injury reporting lists 268 rushing yards and one rushing touchdown across six appearances. Love's 76 attempts translate to approximately 3.5 yards per carry.
The rookie's season statistics also include 11 receptions for 36 yards and another touchdown. Combined with his rushing totals, Love has supplied 304 scrimmage yards and two touchdowns across 87 touches. The Cardinals therefore lose a runner with receiving involvement, although the passing production has remained limited.
Nine carries against Dallas offered little evidence about what a sustained healthy stretch might produce. Another interruption limits the available sample and delays opportunities to evaluate Love within LaFleur's offense. The rookie's draft position raises expectations, but a fragmented season supplies an incomplete basis for judging his long-term ceiling.
The Jeremiyah Love injury update reinforces Arizona's need to establish a dependable relief role behind Allgeier immediately. Hull's expected game-day availability provides the clearest starting point while Knight's status and a potential Ford elevation remain unresolved. A defined second option would let LaFleur rest the lead runner without improvising the rotation during another injury disruption.
Allgeier has earned the first opportunity, but the coaching staff still needs to determine which responsibilities another runner can reliably handle. The Cardinals should use the upcoming practices to settle that division of work before visiting Seattle. Love's recovery can then proceed on medical terms while the available backfield operates with a plan.
