- Jets' Nino Niederreiter Quiet in Swiss 4-0 Victory Over France
Early Friday morning, while many fans were still starting their day, Switzerland opened its Men's Ice Hockey tournament schedule with an impressive 4-0 victory over France.
The win marked the return of Winnipeg Jets forward Nino Niederreiter to the Olympic stage. The veteran winger is representing Switzerland for the second time in his career after previously suiting up for his home country at the 2014 Olympics in Sochi, Russia.

With NHL experience and international pedigree, Niederreiter entered the tournament expected to play a significant role in Switzerland's lineup.
He was slotted on the second line alongside former Colorado Avalanche forward Sven Andrighetto, who now plays for the Zurich Lions, with Denis Malgin centering the unit. Niederreiter was also listed on the second power play unit and the top penalty killing group, underlining the trust the coaching staff has placed in him.
Despite the expectations, Niederreiter's ice time was slightly lower than some anticipated. He logged 15:03 in the victory, recording two shots on goal but finishing without a point.
While Switzerland controlled the game and secured the shutout win, fans were hoping to see the Jets forward make an early mark on the scoresheet.
There is optimism that a strong international showing could provide a spark for Niederreiter when he returns to Winnipeg .

Through 55 games this season with the Jets , he has recorded eight goals and 11 assists for 19 points. A productive tournament could help him build momentum for a strong finish to the NHL campaign.
The challenge level rises quickly for Switzerland. Their next matchup comes against tournament gold medal favorites Team Canada on Friday, followed by a Sunday showdown with Czechia, another team viewed as a serious medal contender.
With tougher competition ahead, Switzerland will need contributions throughout the lineup, and Niederreiter's experience could prove crucial in the games to come.
