The New York Giants have struggled badly in recent years, finishing the 2025 season with a 4-13 record and in last place in the NFC East. New York has failed to make the playoffs in 12 of the last 14 seasons since winning Super Bowl XLVI over the New England Patriots following the 2011 season.
After last season’s disastrous season, the Giants brought in an established winning coach in John Harbaugh to take over the program. General manager Joe Schoen has been under fire throughout his tenure with the Giants, but he believes the Giants have turned a corner with Harbaugh as the team’s coach.
Brian Daboll had been the Giants head coach since 2022 and he was fired during the 2025 season. Mike Kafka took over on an interim basis, but the Giants clearly were determined to move in a new direction.
Schoen says that everything Harbaugh has done since coming aboard has uplifted the Giants franchise. “It started with the interview process,” Schoen said in a discussion on the NFL Network. “We were the first team to interview him and the only team to interview him. Going through free agency, the draft and the combine were all positive developments. Communicating on how to put together a roster and a coaching staff went well. It felt like we have had a lot of wins from January to today. The relationship has been great.”
The Giants believe they have their quarterback in place in Jaxson Dart . He started 12 games for the Giants last year and showed off his talent and athleticism. Dart completed 216 of 339 passes for 2,272 yards with a 15-5 TD-interception ratio. He also ran for 487 yards and 9 touchdowns, averaging 5.7 yards per carry.
