The New York Giants and John Harbaugh are working to finalize an agreement that will make Harbaugh the Giants' next coach, according to a report from ESPN's Adam Schefter.
That thwarts any hope the Tennessee Titans had of reeling in the biggest name in the coaching search market for 2026.
The Titans were poised to interview Harbaugh in Baltimore on Jan. 15, one day after he reportedly spent several hours at the Giants' facility in East Rutherford, New Jersey, touring and speaking with top officials and decision makers.
Harbaugh, 63, was the Baltimore Ravens ' coach from 2008 to 2025. He compiled a 180-113 record and took the Ravens to the playoffs 12 times, including a Super Bowl win following the 2012 season. His 13 playoff wins are tied for seventh-most in NFL history, putting him behind only Bill Belichick, Andy Reid, Tom Landry, Don Shula, Joe Gibbs and Chuck Noll.
Since Harbaugh took over the Ravens, the only NFL franchises with more wins are the New England Patriots , Pittsburgh Steelers and Green Bay Packers . Only the Patriots, Kansas City Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers have more playoff wins during the same period.
The Ravens made the decision to fire Harbaugh following an 8-9 season and out of the playoffs.
Harbaugh is hardly the only coach the Titans have pursued for their vacancy. Other prominent coaches who have either completed interviews with or have interviews scheduled with the Titans include Super Bowl winner Mike McCarthy, as well as recently fired former head coaches Kevin Stefanski, Mike McDaniel and Raheem Morris, plus Robert Saleh, Matt Nagy and Arthur Smith.
