The Pittsburgh Steelers could soon be adding another local product to their secondary. Ex-Central Valley High School and Pitt safety Jordan Whitehead , who most recently played for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2024, visited with Mike McCarthy's team on Thursday, per NFL insider Mike Garafolo .
"Whitehead is exploring possible landing spots after getting medical clearance on his neck," Garafolo wrote on X.
Whitehead played the first four seasons (2018-21) of his professional career with the Buccaneers, who drafted him in the fourth round (No. 117 overall) in 2018. Whitehead left to join the New York Jets in free agency in 2022 and played for them the next two campaigns, then re-joined Tampa Bay for the 2024 season.
Garafolo reported recently that Whitehead had visited the Houston Texans and Indianapolis Colts after being fully cleared from a neck surgery.
During his career, Whitehead has racked up 557 combined tackles, 11 interceptions, 45 pass breakups, 2.5 sacks, two forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries. He had his best statistical showing with the Jets in 2023, pulling down four picks and making 97 stops, both career-highs.
The Steelers already roster two former WPIAL high school football covermen in Joey Porter Jr. (North Allegheny) and Jaquan Brisker (Central Valley).
