Monday, the Chicago Wolves announced that they had re-signed Josiah Slavin to a one way, two-year contract.
Slavin, who became a UFA for the first time in his career this summer, had lingered on the market ever since July 1st, with many wondering if he would remain with the Wolves or move onto a different team.
Having served as the Captain of the Wolves ever since his arrival in 2024, he has been a crucial piece for the team beyond just scoring – providing leadership for a notably youthful team.
"It brings me a lot of joy knowing that as a leader I may have helped them in some way to get to their NHL debuts and just push them to be better players," Slavin said in a statement released by the Wolves. "That's something I've really grown into the last couple of years."
Last season, Josiah joined his brother, Jaccob, for two games with the Carolina Hurricanes in games 79 and 80.
"Just pure joy," Jaccob described of playing alongside his younger brother for the first time in their professional careers. "I mean, obviously, growing up together, played a lot of mini sticks together, played a lot of backyard hockey together. But, to finally be able to be here in the NHL with him – that's just joy. It's awesome – thankful for this opportunity."
While his current contract is with the AHL only, it still remains an option for the Hurricanes to sign him to a contract should the need arise during the season.
