Jude Bellingham's World Cup haul earns second England award
Jude Bellingham has been voted England's Player of the Year for the 2025-26 season, according to Mundo Deportivo, with the Real Madrid midfielder recognised by fans for a second consecutive campaign. The honour follows a tournament in which Bellingham was central to England's run to the World Cup semi-finals, where the Three Lions eventually finished third.
Bellingham had already claimed the same award the previous season, and this repeat win keeps him at the top of the fan vote heading into the new international cycle. Across 12 appearances for England during the 2025-26 season, he scored seven goals and added one assist, with every one of those goals coming at the World Cup itself, a tally that made him the tournament's leading scorer among England players.

A season shaped by summer form
The recognition arrives at a moment when Bellingham has been central to discussion around his role and influence at Real Madrid , where he has continued to operate as one of the club's key attacking midfielders following his return from international duty. His World Cup output, all seven goals arriving on the tournament's biggest stage, gave Los Blancos' English international a natural claim on the fan vote regardless of how his club form had fluctuated over the previous two seasons.
Responding to the award, Bellingham described it as a source of real satisfaction, saying it was not something he thought about while playing for his country but that it added to what had been a memorable summer and an honour in representing England.
Building on individual recognition
The award adds to a run of individual recognition for Bellingham following his tournament performances, and comes on the back of a season that has already seen Real Madrid players collect major individual honours . He has carried that form into the new club campaign too: in Real Madrid's first eight matches of 2026-27, Bellingham has scored three goals and provided two assists, a return that suggests his World Cup performances have translated directly into sharper output for his club.

Whether this second successive England award signals any wider shift in how Thomas Tuchel builds his squad, or affects specific selection decisions for upcoming fixtures, is not something the available reporting addresses. For now, the honour simply confirms what Bellingham's numbers already showed: a player who delivered his best form for country at the moment it mattered most, and who Real Madrid will be relying on to sustain that level through a season already carrying heavy expectations.
