NC State is looking for a new head coach, and it appears the program is inching closer to landing the man it wants.
After Philip Rivers interviewed for the position, another former NC State player, Russell Wilson, was linked to the job, but analyst Bomani Jones says there is no way he's getting it.

Jones made it clear to Russell Wilson that NC State is just entertaining him but has already decided to go with Philip Rivers as the new head coach.
"NC State is going to hire Philip Rivers…I can't explain to you how much they love Philip Rivers…Russell Wilson is NOT Philip Rivers…They must really love you, Russell Wilson, because they ain't got no Rooney Rule over there; they're just entertaining you by doing this," Jones said on The Right Time With Bomani Jones' X
.
NC State fired Dave Doeren after the team's defeat to Stanford, and since then, Rivers and Wilson have emerged as two of the strongest candidates for the top job.

Philip Rivers' Comments About the NC State Job
While it may look like Philip Rivers is the man in pole position, the former NFL quarterback has played down the move.
"Never say never, but nothing imminent," Rivers said, per the New York Post
on Friday. "NC State is special to me. There's nothing there at this point. You understand the chatter is out there. Got to take it one day at a time is all I know."
Rivers' connection with NC State is deep, with the QB playing four years at the program and his son Gunner, a four-star QB, also committing to play there.
Meanwhile, NC State prepares for its next challenge on the field against Duke on Saturday.
