- Kansas Jayhawks Target $1.1M Transfer Recruit Eric Reibe Amid Roster Losses
Bill Self and the Kansas Jayhawks' 2025-26 college basketball season ended with a second-round loss to the No. 5-seeded St. John's Red Storm. It's the fourth straight year the team has failed to get past the second round. Following their loss, Kansas wrapped things up, going 24-11 overall and 12-6 in Big 12 matchups to finish the year.
The beginning of the offseason has proved to be a busy time for Self and his staff. Since the transfer portal officially opened on April 7, the Jayhawks have lost seven players . Several of those players have already found new homes, including center Flory Bidunga (Louisville Cardinals) and forward Samis Calderon (Butler Bulldogs).

With seven players gone, the Jayhawks are looking to replenish the lost talent. On3's Jamie Shaw reports that Kansas is one team to have shown interest in former UConn Huskies center Eric Reibe.
"Eric Reibe had a good freshman season for UConn, starting four games and helping the Huskies make a run to the national championship game," Shaw wrote. "I was told the early interest in him, once he entered the portal was from programs like Indiana, Michigan, and Kansas."

As a true freshman for the Huskies, the center appeared in 40 games. He was solid, averaging 5.9 points , 3.3 rebounds and 0.5 assists per game. He also shot 65.8% from the field and 30.8% from the three-point line.
Now searching for a new home, On3 Industry Rankings place Reibe as the No. 9 center and No. 63 player to hit the transfer portal this offseason. Along with an On3 NIL valuation of $1.1 million , he is considered a highly valuable player.
With three more years of eligibility, it's no surprise that Kansas is just one of several teams showing interest in the center. If the Jayhawks can land his commitment, though, Reibe would be the team's first transfer addition this offseason.
