With just a month remaining before the WNBA playoffs, things are heating up. Once again, the Indiana Fever were at the center of the action as Kelsey Mitchell and the Toronto Tempo 's Marina Mabrey got into a heated on-court exchange in their last game.
Caitlin Clark and her team beat the Tempo on the road, 101-95, on Aug. 19. However, one moment between Mitchell and Mabrey grabbed the headlines.
Mitchell tried to get free of Mabrey in order to receive a pass from Aliyah Boston . However, Mabrey was persistent and physical, which seemed to frustrate Mitchell. The Fever star pushed Mabrey and yelled at her while pointing her finger in the Tempo star's face. Mabrey looked away as Mitchell became increasingly frustrated.
Candace Parker talked about the incident on her podcast with Boston on Wednesday.
"Kelsey Mitchell surprised us all with a heated moment. I've never seen her be heated like this ever in my life," Parker said (15:19).
"Kelsey being heated like this and then putting her finger in her face and Marina, she crazy. We all know I play with Marina. I love her to death, but she crazy. But her looking off into the distance, it's like separate crazies in this right here. So like Kelsey putting her finger in the face and Marina just looking off into the distance like this," Parker laughed.
Both Mitchell and Mabrey received technical fouls for the incident.
Candace Parker and Aliyah Boston discussed the viral moment when Caitlin Clark smiled after Angel Reese and the Atlanta Dream missed three chances to win the game. The Fever won 95-91 in overtime. Boston reacted to the moment.
"Peace, love and happiness. We will never be free," Boston said .
Parker found it hilarious. Boston shared that she had not noticed it during the game but saw it after it went viral online.
