And, just like that, another solid performance is in the books. Jesse Minter's Baltimore Ravens have given up ten points in two outings. They have received strong defensive performances throughout the preseason, regardless of which unit has been on the field.
The starters dominated portions of the joint practices against the Minnesota Vikings . Reserves followed with another productive showing during Saturday's preseason matchup . For a defense trying to establish consistency under first-year head coach Jesse Minter, that continuity may be one of the most encouraging developments of training camp.

Safety Keondre Jackson believes the explanation is simple. Following Baltimore's victory over Minnesota, Jackson spoke with the media . He discussed how the defense approaches the challenge of maintaining the same standard throughout the depth chart. Rather than focusing on individual performances, he pointed to the accountability created by the players ahead of him.
"[It's about] just learning from the few mistakes we had in [the joint] practices. We preach not having a drop-off on our backend, and on the defense. So, the 'ones' hold us accountable; they go out there and play great. The 'twos' and 'threes,' we want to follow suit because you're just as good as your weakest link. Not saying that we have a weak link, but [we want] no drop-offs with that."
The comment offered an interesting glimpse into how Baltimore views defensive depth. The goal isn't merely finding capable backups. The goal is ensuring that when substitutions occur, the overall standard remains unchanged.

Jackson's comments also aligned with a theme that has surfaced repeatedly throughout camp. Veteran leaders such as Roquan Smith and Marlon Humphrey have spoken about buy-in, communication, and maintaining a collective standard. Jackson's perspective showed how those messages have filtered throughout the entire roster. The younger players aren't simply hearing those expectations. They're embracing them.

Later in the interview, Jackson was asked why Baltimore's defense has looked so connected through joint practices and preseason action. Once again, his answer centered on something bigger than scheme.
"There's a lot of unity, and when [head coach Jesse Minter] first came in, that's exactly what he preached to us. He wanted us all to be connected in the backend [and] connected on the defense side. So, as a team, we want to be the best. So, [it's] just [about] unity, and as [long] as we're united and connected, we can go as far as we want to go."
That response helps explain why the Ravens have looked sharp even while rotating through large portions of the roster. Talent matters, but continuity matters too. Baltimore's defenders appear to understand exactly what is expected regardless of where they sit on the depth chart.
If that mindset continues into the regular season, the Ravens may have something every contender covets: a defense capable of maintaining its identity no matter who is on the field. For Jackson, that's the difference between having good starters and having a complete defense.
