The Houston Rockets are set to visit the Phoenix Suns on Tuesday, in what will be the return for Kevin Durant as an opponent. The Rockets already visited the Suns back in November, but Durant did not suit up in that game.
Prior to Kevin Durant 's return to Phoenix, the Rockets' star spoke about his time with the Suns, as per Kellan Olson of Empire Of The Suns.
"There's nothing really big or significant. I wasn't here long enough to really feel like I left a mark here," Durant said. "And that's unfortunate because I want to leave marks everywhere I go. But it is what it is. You move on and appreciate the time spent."
Durant also admitted that at first he had hard feelings about the offseason trade that sent him to the Rockets , but that now he's gotten over it.
"I'm pretty much over it. At the time, it was tough to take," Durant continued. "A place I wanted to be and keep building but it's the business of the league … Yeah I was sour early on but I think I've gotten over it. Time heals all and just move on."
Durant spent two and half seasons with the Suns following the deadline deal in 2022-23 that sent him to Phoenix from the Brooklyn Nets . During that time, the Suns made the playoffs twice, losing in the Western Conference Semifinals in 2022-23, and losing in the conference quarterfinals in 2023-24. Last year, they failed to make the postseason.
During his Suns tenure, Durant appeared in a total of 145 games, averaging 26.8 points, 6.3 rebounds, 4.6 assists and 1.2 steals with splits of 52.7 percent shooting from the field, 42.7 percent shooting from the 3-point line and 84.7 percent shooting from the free-throw line.
