No. 10 seed Tennessee (16-14) was eliminated in the first round of the NCAA Tournament on Friday. No. 7 seed North Carolina State (21-10) defeated the Lady Vols, 76-61, at Crisler Center in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
Tennessee ended its 2025-26 basketball season with an eight-game losing streak. The Lady Vols' last win was against Missouri on Feb. 12 at Food City Center.
Following Tennessee's first-round loss to the Wolfpack, second-year head coach Kim Caldwell discussed the season-ending game and the 2025-26 campaign.
"Not the game we wanted, really not the season we wanted, but doesn't really help us to get into that right now," Caldwell said. "Trying to enjoy our seniors for the last little bit that we have them and nothing we can really say to help this loss."
Caldwell also discussed what her takeaways from the season were and if she could make adjustments ahead of next season.
"It's a long list," Caldwell said. "I don't think it helps to get into that list publicly today. I think personally, the most important thing is making sure that you and the people around you keep your character when your prayer doesn't really match God's plan and I think I didn't do a great job of that personally today, and then Xs, Os, there's a list, but today's not the day to get into that."
