- Knicks have a guard decision after Jose Alvarado practice update

Jose Alvarado's return to practice gives the Knicks a decision to prepare for, even if Monday night's lineup remains unsettled.
The guard is questionable against Brooklyn with a left ankle sprain, SNY reported . A questionable designation is not clearance, and the team still needs to determine whether he can play.
If Alvarado is available, I'd give him a manageable first assignment and evaluate how his ankle responds rather than immediately treating his usual workload as a target. His ball pressure can change a reserve unit, but a return after missed time deserves a measured approach.

If he sits, Mike Brown can continue distributing guard work among the available reserves. That means more responsibility for creation, not simply finding someone to stand in the same spot on the court.
The Knicks are 2-4 and host a Nets team coming off its first win, a 98-90 result at Indiana. Those records explain the stakes without making one November game a referendum on the defending champions.

Brown may choose continuity even if Alvarado is cleared, or use him earlier if the medical staff has no restrictions. Neither decision can be predicted from an injury designation alone.
The first check is the final report. The second is whether New York can generate more organized offense when Jalen Brunson rests.
