The comeback gave the Knicks a commanding 3-1 lead in the NBA Finals and moved the franchise within one victory of its first championship in 53 years.
Sportico shared Alvarado's postgame remarks on X, formerly Twitter, as the Knicks celebrated the largest comeback victory in NBA Finals history.
"I'm not going to sugarcoat this, I was about to cry."
Alvarado's comments came after one of the most memorable games in NBA history. New York faced a 29-point deficit during the second half before mounting a remarkable comeback vs. the Spurs.
The rally culminated in the closing seconds when OG Anunoby crashed the lane and tipped in Jalen Brunson 's missed 3-point attempt with 1.2 seconds remaining, lifting the Knicks to a 107-106 victory. Brunson finished with 36 points, while Anunoby added 33 points and delivered the game-winning bucket.

For the former Georgia Tech standout, the moment carried added significance. The New York native joined the Knicks at the trade deadline and has become an important contributor off the bench through his defensive intensity and energy. In Game 4, he logged a series-high 16 minutes and finished with eight points, three assists, and two rebounds while helping fuel the comeback effort.
The victory also rewrote the NBA record books. New York erased a larger deficit than the previous Finals comeback record, a 24-point rally by the Boston Celtics vs. the Los Angeles Lakers in Game 4 of the 2008 NBA Finals.
Game 5 now shifts to San Antonio on Saturday, where the Knicks will have their first opportunity to clinch the 2026 NBA championship and complete their historic Finals run.
