The New York Knicks abruptly parted ways with veteran wing John Konchar on Wednesday, just 15 days after agreeing to a one-year training-camp deal.
New York officially waived Konchar and center N'Faly Dante after opening camp with a 21-man roster. The team did not provide a reason for either move. SNY's Ian Begley later took to his X, formerly Twitter, highlighting that he had been away from the Knicks this week because of a personal matter and that both sides agreed to separate for now, giving him additional time away from the team.

Konchar had signed with New York on September 15 after drawing interest from the Miami Heat , Orlando Magic , and the Toronto Raptors . The 30-year-old was expected to compete for one of the Knicks' limited regular-season roster spots alongside veterans such as Bruce Brown and Ochai Agbaji .
Konchar has not disclosed the nature of his personal matter. He signed a non-guaranteed deal, and the separation does not guarantee him a future roster spot with the Knicks.
Konchar averaged 4.4 points, 4.3 rebounds and 2.1 assists across 56 games last season. He spent part of the year with the Utah Jazz after more than six seasons with the Memphis Grizzlies .
The Knicks later signed veteran center Tony Bradley to an Exhibit 9 deal, further reshaping the back end of their camp roster. For now, Konchar's brief New York stint ends before the team's first preseason game, with his next move still unresolved.
