The New York Knicks are reportedly waiving center Drew Eubanks after he suffered a torn pectoral muscle during training camp. The injury ends his pursuit of a reserve role behind Karl-Anthony Towns and adds another setback to New York's frontcourt preparations after the team recently added competition for its backup center positions.

Eubanks will be sidelined for an extended period , according to NBA insider Shams Charania, who reported that New York plans to waive the veteran big man.
The development is particularly unfortunate for Eubanks, who was competing for a roster spot rather than entering the season with a guaranteed place in the rotation.

New York entered training camp with several players competing for frontcourt opportunities. Eubanks was among the veterans hoping to secure minutes behind Towns and Andre Drummond.

Eubanks' injury removes one option from that competition and leaves New York with another personnel decision before opening night.
For the veteran center, the immediate priority will be recovering from a significant injury. Meanwhile, the Knicks must determine which remaining players can provide reliable frontcourt support throughout the upcoming season.
