- Get to know the Kentucky football roster: No. 26 Jason Patterson
The fall sports period has begun with the volleyball team and soccer teams' exhibition debuts, but the Kentucky football season is still 26 days away. As we count down the days until their first game, we're getting to know the 2026 roster. Today, we're taking a look at No. 26, Jason Patterson .
Patterson is a 5'10", 204 lb running back out of Sneads, Florida. As a recruit, he was rated three stars by 247Sports and ranked as the No. 505 player overall in the 2024 class. Schools like Vanderbilt and Cincinnati offered him, but Kentucky got the commitment.
In his first year, he showed great promise in four games of action, averaging 5.6 yards per carry. He would wind up redshirting, though. Then, last season, he put together 310 total yards and 2 touchdowns, and also returned a few kicks when the team was struggling to find a permanent return man.
Heading into 2026, Patterson is a part of a talented and potentially deep running back room. Coach Will Stein has pointed to the need for depth at that position due to wear and tear, so Patterson will certain get plenty of carries. He'll likely start as the third RB, but is talented enough to step up and be a major contributor using his ability to be an effective runner and solid receiver out of the backfield.
