- The Kyler Murray Betting Market Sharpens for You Know Who

There's a saying in sports: "Vegas knows." If you believe in Vegas's power to prognosticate the future, well, Kyler Murray is on his way to quarterbacking the Minnesota Vikings in 2026.
The betting market is reacting to real smoke, and the Vikings may be closer than most teams to making the Murray swing.

MIN Leads the Way in Murray Odds
Sportsbooks have odds for just about everything in 2026, and Murray's next team is no different.
NBC Sports ' Mike Florio wrote Wednesday, "The Cardinals will release quarterback Kyler Murray next week. Where will he land? DraftKings has the Vikings as the early favorites to sign the first overall pick in the 2019 draft, at -110. The Jets are next at +175, with the Dolphins at +320 and the Browns at +450."

"The Falcons, at +500, are one of the most intriguing options, given their talent elsewhere on offense. As mentioned over the weekend, however, new president of football operations Matt Ryan (a 6'5″ former quarterback) will have to be content to ride with an undersized signal caller."
Plain as day, Minnesota is in pole position to secure Murray, presumably on a one-year, prove-it deal for the league minimum.
Boxing Out the NYJ, PIT, and MIA
The Jets have Justin Fields under contract, but the 2025 campaign proved that he probably won't work out in the long run, especially with the same head coach, Aaron Glenn, in charge. Murray could, in theory, choose the Jets because he'd have an unconstested path to the QB1 job. In Minnesota, he'd have to "worry" about J.J. McCarthy.

For the Steelers, Aaron Rodgers is currently holding them hostage — what else is new? Pittsburgh could tell Rodgers "thanks but no thanks" and sign Murray for the QB1 job, a spot where he'd probably thrive and remain for the next several seasons.
The Dolphins, meanwhile, appear to be on the cusp of dropping Tua Tagovailoa after six seasons; releasing the man will wreak havoc on Miami's budget, meaning it will need a quarterback solution for cheap, which Murray presently represents. Murray would inherit weapons like De'Von Achane and Jayden Waddle — not the worst duo imaginable.
And then there's the Vikings. Yes, the team with Justin Jefferson, Jordan Addison , Brian Flores's defense, and the quarterback-whispering head coach.
Fans Warm Up to the Murray Idea

At the top of the offseason, Vikings fans wanted nothing do with Murray. He was a dirty word.
But Murray's newfound value has changed everything. Put plainly, Vikings fans did not want Minnesota to donate a draft pick to Arizona for Murray. Signing him for the league minimum is a different story.
Here are the latest poll findings:
The team's faithful just needed the right price, and now, Murray will provide that.
Off-the-Charts Value
With Murray available for $1.3 million — a bargain compared to the typical $3 million cost of bargain-bin veteran quarterbacks — the Vikings have a unique opportunity . They could acquire a former No. 1 overall pick with proven NFL production and significant upside at a fraction of the cost, perfectly addressing their need for an alternative quarterback solution.

And from a purely football perspective, Murray is a strong fit for the Vikings' current needs. He has demonstrated Pro Bowl-caliber performance and periods of high efficiency, bringing a dynamic element to the offense that other journeyman free-agent quarterbacks cannot match. Despite challenges in Arizona, Murray has proven capable of winning games when supported by a functional supporting cast.

Furthermore, Murray's motivation is built in. Being sidelined by the team that once championed him as their franchise player provides a competitive edge. The Vikings have seen firsthand how a quarterback's reputation can transform in the right environment. Sam Darnold , once considered a disappointment, won a Super Bowl a year after leaving the Vikings, who played a role in revitalizing his career.
Murray's baseline is already higher than Darnold's was upon arriving in Minnesota. Despite experiencing inconsistency, Murray's talent and past production are undeniable. In an offense that is known for empowering quarterbacks — see: Joshua Dobbs for a few weeks in 2023 and Nick Mullens — his potential is considerable.
If this scenario unfolds, it will likely happen quickly. These situations often materialize just before free agency, with visits and reports surfacing before the legal tampering period. If the Vikings are seriously considering Murray, expect movement this weekend or early next week.

There's also a broader organizational perspective. The Vikings' competitive rebuild from 2022 to 2024 has been turbulent, placing pressure on decision-makers and influencing risk assessment. A low-cost, high-upside quarterback acquisition aligns with a franchise that needs to win now.

Therefore, Murray at this price point represents a calculated gamble. The Vikings aren't committing long-term. If he succeeds, they've secured a premium quarterback at a reduced cost. If he doesn't, they maintain flexibility, including the option to pursue a quarterback in the deep 2027 draft class.
All roads lead to Murray this offseason. The betting market agrees.
