Cameron Carr had some thoughts to share about his ongoing experience in the NBA Summer League after the Los Angeles Lakers' double-overtime win over the Miami Heat on Sunday evening.
Carr is preparing for the rookie campaign of his NBA career with the Lakers . The New York Knicks originally drafted him 24th overall in the 2026 draft before trading him to Los Angeles on draft night.
Having a chance to impress coaches and earn a spot in the rotation, Carr showed out against Miami defenders. In 31 minutes of action, he finished with a stat line of 26 points, eight rebounds and one assist. He shot 7-of-16 from the field, including 4-of-9 from beyond the arc, and 4-of-5 from the free-throw line. Carr reflected on the performance after the game, saying he's learning lessons on how to grow on the defensive side of the ball.

"Says a lot about their character. I mean, everybody wants to win. Everybody's competitive, everybody goes out there and plays hard, but that's all you can ask for. If you're gonna make a mistake, at least do it going as hard as you can. They stepped up big time, especially defensively. I'm trying to learn as much from them as I can, because they're big time, they're big-time on defense, man, on both ends. So, I just got to give them the props," Carr said, via reporter Thuc Nhi Nguyen.
