The Baltimore Ravens entered training camp expecting Danny Pinter to provide stability in the middle of their offensive line. Now, they are searching for answers at one of the offense's most important positions.

Pinter, the presumed starting center, is expected to miss the entire season after suffering a torn patellar tendon, leaving Baltimore with uncertainty at center as the regular season approaches.
The loss is particularly significant because of the responsibilities that come with playing center in Baltimore's offense. Beyond snapping the football, the position is responsible for helping identify defensive fronts, communicating protection adjustments and creating a clean interior pocket for the quarterback.
With Pinter unavailable, the Ravens will have to determine whether the answer is already on the roster or whether they need to look outside the organization for additional help.
Ravens Must Find an Answer Quickly
Training camp and preseason repetitions now take on additional importance for Baltimore's remaining interior offensive linemen. The Ravens have little time to establish chemistry before the games begin to count.

Whoever wins the job will be stepping into a demanding situation.
Baltimore has traditionally built its offensive identity around physicality at the line of scrimmage and a productive rushing attack. Consistency at center becomes even more important when facing AFC North defensive fronts capable of creating pressure through the middle.
The Ravens could also explore the veteran market as teams begin trimming their rosters. Late-summer roster cuts often make experienced offensive linemen available, giving Baltimore another option if the coaching staff isn't comfortable with its current choices.
For now, the Ravens' evaluation will likely focus on communication, reliability and the ability to handle both power and quickness from opposing defensive tackles.

Pinter's injury doesn't necessarily change Baltimore's expectations for the season, but it creates an unexpected problem that must be solved quickly.
The Ravens thought they knew who would be lining up at center when the season began.
Now, one of Baltimore's biggest remaining preseason battles will determine who takes control of the middle of the offensive line.
