Lamine Yamal shared Pablo Gavi 's emotional reaction after Spain named the Barcelona midfielder in their 2026 FIFA World Cup squad.
The moment landed because it was not a routine dressing-room clip. It showed what the call-up meant after a long, painful road back from injury.

For Barcelona, it was a teammate capturing a private release. For Spain, it was proof that one of their most intense midfielders had fought his way back onto the biggest stage.

Lamine Yamal caught Pablo Gavi's Spain call-up becoming a Barcelona release
In a viral Fabrizio Romano post , Yamal was shown filming Gavi as the midfielder learned he had made Spain's World Cup squad.
The reaction was not controlled or polished. Gavi screamed, celebrated, and became visibly emotional as teammates around him shared the moment.
That is why the clip spread so quickly. It did not look like a player simply hearing good news, it looked like someone releasing months of fear, doubt, and frustration.

Yamal's role in the video also mattered. He was not just filming a teammate, he was preserving a moment that showed how much the call-up meant inside Barcelona's dressing room.
Gavi has always played with that kind of emotion. Seeing it come out away from the pitch made the World Cup news feel even more personal.
Pablo Gavi gives Spain a 2026 FIFA World Cup comeback they can actually use
Gavi's path back to the national team was difficult. He suffered a torn ACL and lateral meniscus injury while playing for Spain in November 2023, then faced another meniscus setback in 2025.
That context changes the meaning of the video. Gavi was not celebrating guaranteed status, he was celebrating survival through a period that could have cost him a major tournament.

His inclusion also matters tactically. Spain have technical midfield options, but Gavi gives them pressing, aggression and the ability to turn loose balls into attacks.
The squad is also leaning heavily on Barcelona connections. Gavi, Yamal and Pedri give Spain familiar chemistry in areas that decide rhythm and pressure. For Yamal, filming the reaction was a small act of friendship. For Gavi, it became public proof of how much the call-up meant.
That is why the celebration felt wild rather than excessive. After everything Gavi went through, making Spain's World Cup squad was never going to look ordinary.
