Tunsil opens up in the latest episode of Boardroom Talks about his career, leadership, CJ Stroud, Divine Tree, building his brand, and more.

Laremy Tunsildoesn't need the credit. That's kind of the point.

The Washington Commanders' All-Pro left tackle sat down with Boardroom CEO Rich Kleimanfor the latest episode of Boardroom Talks, and what unfolded was less of an interview and more of a conversation between two guys who've watched each other build. Somewhere between Myles Garretttrade talk and a story about getting booed in his own stadium, Tunsil laid out exactly who he is: a lineman who's spent a career in the shadows, on purpose, and is only now starting to step into the light.

It started with why he showed up to OTAs this offseason, which, for a 10-year vet who's already proven he knows how to prepare, was itself the story. "Just leadership style. I think that's one of the things I want to work on this offseason was just trying to become a better leader," Tunsil told Kleiman, pointing to Washington's new offensive and defensive coordinators as reason enough to be in the building early. From there, the conversation moved naturally to Jayden Daniels, and there was no hedging. "I think the sky's the limit for Jayden, man," Tunsil said. "I think he just got everything that you need in a quarterback from the leadership, being vocal, the talent's there."

It's the same instinct that governs everything up front for Tunsil, an ethic he traces back to Pop Warner: "Don't let the quarterback get hit. Nobody should touch the quarterback." That same loyalty extends to CJ Stroud, his old QB1 in Houston, who took heat during the playoffs. "I wish I was there just to help him not go through that," Tunsil admitted. "But CJ going to pick it up, bro. He's going to ball."

The conversation took on a different edge when Garrett came up, now an NFC rival after his blockbuster trade to the Los Angeles Rams. The two have been going at it since college. "He's for sure the best I face," Tunsil said flatly, adding that Garrett is the one opponent who costs him sleep: "Extra hour of sleep, probably Myles would be the only extra hour of sleep, to be honest with you." He didn't shy away from the flip side either, opening up about 2024, a year defined by 19 penalties, including six false starts in a single game in Minnesota, and getting booed by his own crowd. "They ain't had my back, getting booed. It's crazy," he said. "It's a tough team to play for as far as fans." He called it a mental trap as much as anything: "I think once you have one, it's hard to overcome because that's what the ref looking at."

The business side of the conversation centered on Divine Tree , the full-service management company Tunsil built with Lalo, dating back to 2017. Without a traditional agent, Tunsil leans entirely on that partnership. "He's my agent, my manager, my business partner. He's everything for us," Tunsil said. He also copped to being a reluctant frontman: "That was never my identity. I always try to stay in the shadows, try to stay low-key… And that's something I'm still working on."

A decade into his career, Tunsil continues to build a brand the same way he plays tackle -- quietly, until it's time to make the block that matters.
