The San Antonio Spurs are gearing up for the NBA Finals against the New York Knicks , beginning on Wednesday. Meanwhile, rookie guard Dylan Harper is getting the backing of his legendary father, Ron, amid recent trade rumors.
However, not everyone seems to be a fan of Ron, including LeBron James . On his Mind the Game Podcast with Steve Nash , James made it known how he feels about the two.
"Dylan's [Harper] great. I mean, his daddy [Ron] ain't sh*t. But he's great. I'll see him when I see him."
It turns out that James has been involved in a public feud with Ron Harper. In February, Harper criticized James for allegedly forcing his son, Bronny, to play in the NBA . That caught Dylan and Ron Harper Jr. off guard, but Ron Sr. stood by his comments.
Later on, James aimed Harper for those remarks and stood by his influence on Bronny .
Meanwhile, James has praised Dylan Harper, going back to his college days at Rutgers. They share a mutual respect, with James referring to Dylan as his "nephew" and Dylan referring to James as "unc".
In his rookie year with the Spurs, Harper finished the season averaging 11.8 points, 3.9 assists, and 3.4 rebounds per game. He also shot 50.5% from the field. In the playoffs, Harper is averaging 13.1 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 2.6 assists per game.
Ron played in the NBA from 1986 to 2001. He played for the Cleveland Cavaliers , Los Angeles Clippers , Chicago Bulls , and Los Angeles Lakers .
He won three championships (1996-1998) with the Bulls in the second half of the 1990s dynasty. Harper won two more championships with the Lakers in 2000 and 2001.
